Sometimes You Just Have to Reinvent Yourself

Every once in a while everyone gets in a work-related rut, especially entrepreneurs. 

It's inevitable because nothing ever goes perfectly and rarely just as planned. The vision we once had has become a bit tarnished and the days have become quite routine. Sometimes it's a matter of getting stuck in the same old routines just because "we've always done it that way", "It's worked for us so far" or "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

So, what's the price you're paying for apathy? 

I can assure you that if you're not inspired neither are your clients and uninspired clients typically aren't paying clients. So apathy means you're probably leaving a lot of money on the table! But, the biggest price of apathy to an entrepreneur is the loss of a dream. That feeling of doing what you love as if money wasn't a consideration. The idea that you're going to change the world.

Don't lose the dream, just reinvent yourself. 

Get the passion back. After all the biggest allure of being an entrepreneur is the creative process. Creating something from nothing typically based on a dream and a lot of vision. Oh yes, the dream. Soon it gets wrapped up in reality and starts feeling a little too much like the corporate job you just left. But who says you can't keep creating that dream?

No, that doesn't mean changing jobs or starting a new business, it just means reinventing the way you think about your business. Maybe it's turning your processes upside down and shaking them out looking for a new way of doing things. A fresh new perspective. Change your office around and literally give yourself a new view. Get creative (as if you're starting all over).

What if you can imagine the shoe on the other foot and you're looking to buy your business. With a fresh and open mind what would you do to invigorate it and improve it?

Sometimes, going back to school or taking courses or workshops in your field will help get the creative juices flowing again. Just because you've had success, doesn't mean you should quit learning. Learning inspires creativity! Did you know that learning something completely different than anything you've done before, stimulates your brain to think differently which encourages creative problem solving?

Reinventing yourself might be writing a book, engage in public speaking or even teach a class! The point is that it's important to fan the flames of passion for what you do. Grow your business by reinventing yourself. Get your mojo back and watch the magic happen.
